"DEMOCRATS' (AND LEFT NEWS MEDIA'S) "CHICKEN LITTLE" HYSTERIA IS GETTING TIRESOME
The Sky Is Falling! The Sky Is Falling! That was the essence of a childhood parable wherein Chicken Little prophesized the end of the world after an acorn fell on its head. Eventually, everybody tuned out that stupid doom-saying chick.
The moral of the story was that liars, particularly those who utter whoppers persistently, are soon revealed and ignored. The “Chicken Little” mind frame epitomizes the national Democratic Party and some of the left-leaning mainstream news media.
For them, it seems, everything that President Donald Trump does or says is an abject and catastrophic outrage. Think Rachel Maddow, who as journalist Matt Taibbi said, is basically the Left’s Bill O’Reilly. Is there anything she doesn’t have a problem with?
Everything is a f-ing “constitutional crisis,” “chaos abounds,” democracy is “hanging by a thread,” people are “disappearing,” a “recession is imminent,” tariffs are bad, illegal immigrants must have “due process,” and Joe Biden “ran rings” around his staff.
But in politics the end always justifies the means. If keeping the despicable Trump out of power is the goal, then there is no guilt.
That’s how you get NY’s senior senator and senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D) telling us that Trump’s first 100 days “have been hell.” That’s a real tragedy, especially since a presidential term consists of 4 years, or 1,461 days, so that means another 1,361 more days of “hell.” For those of us who survived 1,461 days of Biden-Harris, his handling of the pandemic, and an open border policy that has fractured the fabric of America, this “hell” cannot be any worse.
One common cliché in action movies like “Mission Impossible” is that “failure is not an option.” For Democrats, as they ponder 2028, the failure of Trump-Vance is their only option. After the failures of 2021-24, the 2028 Democratic nominee must have worse failures during 2025-28. If the economy is robust, wars have ceased and Trump Fatigue remains limited, then J.D. Vance will be the next president, running on a Vance-Rubio ticket. To thwart that likelihood, the Leftist media must remain steadfast – which means trashing Trump every day for the next 41 months. After all, who are they going to hang their hat on? AOC? Bernie again? The Dems are screwed unless they come way into the center to even have a shot.
The problem with bulk of the media is that they are insecure, conformist , lazy and some, really stupid. Their goal is NOT to tell the truth but to be noticed and lionized by their “journalistic” peers – and that is done by spewing forth as much vile anti-Trump propaganda as possible, even if twisted or fabricated. Is the news positive for Trump? Like a good jobs report or lower inflation? Then ignore or omit it. Never talk about the border. Pretend Biden was a president worthy of Mount Rushmore enshrinement. And Kamala was really, really smart – a diamond in the rough, so to speak. Even CNN’s Jake Tapper eventually came around to finally admitting that Biden’s circle was trying to hide the truth about his mental acuity after years spewing that Biden was as sharp as a tack.
The Left’s NARRATIVE – that Trump is a facist/racist/sexist/rapist/misogynistic/homophobic psychotic authoritarian Hitler and Russian asset must be preserved at all costs. Never mind the facts. Never mind that Biden-Harris was incompetent. Never mind that Biden’s health was clearly failing. Never mind that 12 million people flooded into America. The fixation was that TRUMP MUST LOSE. And if that meant lying every minute of every hour of every day, then so be it. They were the Good and Righteous and the MAGA hats were just complete idiots.
Every news day was and is carefully scripted. Politicians and commentators are given their “talking points” so as to create a unanimity (and illusion) of anti-Trump outrage. The sound bites must be numerous and all on-point.
It’s like the Ukrainian-Russian War: It never ends. But the attention span of the voters does end. The problem is that Trump clutters-up each news cycle with so many events, photo-ops and executive actions that by the time the Democrats/media respond he’s already moved on. Their entire tiresome message is negative: If Trump’s for it, we’re against it – because it’s an outrage. I think the President even said that even if he would cure cancer nobody would congratulate him from the other side.
For a decade, from 2015 until today, the Democrats and media toadies demonized Trump-Pence and then Trump-Vance. America was STUPID to elect Trump (2016) and they were going to make sure they wouldn’t be SO STUPID as to re-elect Trump (2020), they vowed. We know what’s best for you. Do as you’re told.
And they succeeded (2020). There has been no politician in recent times so hated and reviled. Trump is NOT a nice/warm/sweet/kind/gentle/sensitive/loving/caring/thoughtful kind of a guy. He’s an alpha male in an era of “toxic masculinity” where wimps like Tim Walz and Doug Emhoff are celebrated. Add to that the MAGA branding, with every Trump voter dismissed as a dullard and bigot. With that kind of baggage Trump couldn’t possibly win.
Or so the media thought. Voters and voter stats proved otherwise (see CHART). Trump got 62,984,828 in 2016 and lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by 5,858,686; he upped his vote by in 2020 but lost the popular vote (and presidency) to Biden by 7,059,726. But the key – and totally overlooked stat by the media – is that Trump got 14,317,752 more votes in 2024 than in 2016. After a decade of Trump-bashing the Trump Nation grew by 10 percent.
The point is that the Democrats in 2024 lost to the least-electable, crotch-grabbing, most controversial Republican. And the reason is sheer incompetence and stupidity. Voters simply rejected the performance and policies of Biden-Harris. They weren’t buying what purple-haired pixie dust they were selling.
The latest media canard is that some (or many) Trump 2024 voters are remorseful and/or regretful. Total hogwash. He is doing exactly what he promised. Every day is a new adventure. Every day brings more howling, whining and pathetic hand-wringing from the Left.
It will be recalled that Biden’s favorable/unfavorable job approval hovered around 38-42 positive for most of his term after Afghanistan, but Harris-Walz got 48.3 percent. That meant 6-7 of their vote was anti-Trump, not pro-Biden. Trump was in the low 40s himself during 2017-20, but got 46.8 percent in 2020 amid COVID.
Recent job approval polling puts Trump above water at or near 50 percent, almost exactly at the 49.8 percent level he got last Nov. 5. Rasmussen (5-11/15) had him at 51/48; RMG Research (5-7/13) had him at 52/48; Trafalgar/Insider Advantage (4/30-5/1) had it 46/44. May polls which consistently over-sample Democrats had it at 46/52, 44/52 and News Nation had it 44/56. The Daily Mail had it 50/50.
Trump’s second term is much better organized than his first. His people are focused on their tasks, which means undoing the “damage” Biden has done. 2028 is far away and Trump Fatigue will build, but Democrats won’t even come close using their “Chicken Little” playbook. If they want to win anything, they have to get to the center and stop focusing on the losing side of the 80/20 issues.
9TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT UPDATE: As expected, 14-term congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D) announced her retirement on May 5. Since 1948 the 9th has been considered Illinois’ “Jewish seat” in Congress. The iconic Sidney Yates (D) held the seat from 1948 to 1998 (with a 2-year hiatus after losing for senator in 1962) and Schakowsky, then an Evanston state rep, won it in 1998 defeating Howie Carroll and a young JB Pritzker. 2026 will be just the third open-seat contest in 78 years.
The district is overwhelmingly Democratic; Harris-Walz got 65 percent. So whoever wins next year will likely keep the seat well into the 2040s. It’s a “lifetime” seat. Already out-of-the-gate are state senator Laura Fine (D) of Glenview, Evanston mayor Daniel Biss, who was re-elected April 1, and social media influencer Kat Abughazaleh. Soon to likely announce is Chicago state Rep Kelly Cassidy from the Edgewater 48th Ward.
Biss is already saying in a video that “We are living in an unimaginable hellscape.” See what I mean about Chicken Little?
In a party obsessed with “identity politics” there are a lot of moving parts at play. One man versus two women; two Jewish suburbanites versus one gentile Chicagoan. Geography matters. Schakowsky won in 1998 because two Chicago men split the Chicago vote. Money matters. Funding from Jewish donors will be split. Cassidy will get a lot of out-of-district money from LGBTQ sources. Schakowsky’s endorsement matters. It’s over if she anoints Biss.
The primary is on March 17, 2026.
