THREE MINI-COLUMNS: WILLIE WILSON'S "PARTY," CHAOS IN NORRIDGE, AND A "TRUMP" JUDGE

Persistence in politics is commendable. Losing is not that bad if it is a part of a long-term winning strategy - like Willie Wilson's 2020 Willie Wilson Party foreshadowing a 2022 Wilson bid for Illinois Secretary of State and maybe Chicago mayor in 2023. Deputy Sec. of State Tom Benigno is back for a third shot at winning the Norridge mayor's job in 2021, and party lines are blurred. Of the 46 judgeships on the Nov. 3 ballot, a Republican is running in only two: The north suburban 12th and 13th subcircuits. Frank DiFranco is being pounded for having made donations (3) to President Trump. Full Article...

DARBRO'S MADIGAN-FUNDED "RESCUE SPRINGFIELD" IS PURE HYPOCRISY

Unbelivable. Michelle Darbro (D) is going to "Rescue Springfield" from "self-serving career" politicians. And Speaker Mike Madigan is footing the $2 million bill to get her elected in the 20th Dist. But isn't Madigan Springfield's premier SELF-SERVING CAREER politician? Never mind. It's the thought...the good intentions (if any)...that matter. Just like Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy, Darbro's "Rescue Springfield" will join the ranks of enduring, fatuous myths. She faces Brad Stephens (R) on Nov. 3. Full Article...

STATE LEGISLATURES CONSTITUTE REPUBLICANS' 2020 "FIREWALL"

"It ain't over until it's over." The current narrative on the 2020 election is that President Trump has "destroyed" the Republican brand name and the future viability of the party. But it ain't destroyed until it is destroyed. To be sure, Democrats are ascendant. But elsewhere it's the Republicans who have been and will remain ascendant, particularly on the state legislative level. Of the 49 partisan legislatures (Nebraska is unicameral and non-partisan, but really Republican-controlled), Republicans have majorities in 28 state Senates and 31 state Houses, and control the governorship and both chambers in 21 states, to the Democrats' 15, with 14 states divided. The South is a Republican lockdown, with legislative majorities in all but Virginia. Full Article...

JOE BIDEN'S CAREER HAS BEEN BOTH FORTUITOUS AND SERENDIPITOUS

President Trump calls him "Sleepy Joe." If his senatorial colleagues were to come up with an epithet they would dismiss him as "Slacker Joe" because his major accomplishment in a 36-year tenure was getting elected once in 1972 and re-elected six times. He's left no legislative imprint on any major issue and the right-wing media deride him for hiding in his Delaware basement. But the right epithet in my mind is "The Serendipity Man." Joe Biden has had a lifelong knack for being in the right place at the right time, beginning in 1972 and then nationally in 2008 and 2020. Serendipity is defined as an aptitude for making fortunate discoveries accidentally, which means being fortuitous, as in a happening by chance, or simple luck. He's also Affable Joe and Adaptable Joe. America needs a wind-sock as president. Full Article...
