MUNGER'S "NARROW" LOSS BODES WELL FOR RAUNER IN 2018

Donald Trump lost Illinois by 944,714 votes, but the obscure Leslie Munger lost her bid to remain as Comptroller by just 217,242 votes. That bodes well for her political sponsor, Bruce Rauner, in 2018, because it pegs the 2016 Democratic base vote at about 600,000 less than the Clinton presidential vote; if it declines by another 500,000 in 2018, Rauner can win. The Munger-Mendoza contest was a Rauner-Madigan proxy war, and much of Madigan's toxicity attached to Mendoza. The 2020 presidential campaign began Jan. 21, with the political Left employing a 6-Ds strategy: Delegitimize, define, demonize, disrespect, distract and deploy. Whatever Trump does will be massively resisted, protested and misconstrued. It will be politics 24/7 for the next 1,385 days. Anti-Trump anger can be summarized by 6 words: TRUMP WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO WIN. Full Article...

BUNGLES, BLOOPERS AND MADIGAN TAKEOVER HIGHLIGHT 2017 SUBURBAN ELECTIONS

A bit of levity in politics is nice to find. In 2017, 30 suburban Cook County town ships and 120 municipalities hold elections, most being desultory affairs. but northwest suburban Maine twp. is always good for a few laughs. In Des Plaines, Mayor Bogusz sought to change to the city motto to "Good Move." To quote "good move" Critics thought it sounded like a laxative for chronic constipation, and it was flushed -- but not before Bogusz stacked $180,000 PR firm to conceive it. In the township, Republicans are at their usual blundering and bickering best, but Democrats too lame to take advantage. In Rosemont, the new Mayor (and current mayor) will earn $240,000 more than does the mayor of Chicago and New York. In Norridge, IL deputy Sec. of State, out of a job in 2018, is bailing and downsizing. He and horde of Madigan workers see to oust Norridge's mayor. And in Langland (Niles twp.) all is quiet, as Boss Lang and his $1 Million have subdued all opposition. Full Article...

DEMOCRATIC-TRENDING DEMOGRAPHICS CAUSE DOLD'S DEFEAT IN 10TH DIST.

Why elect a Republican congressman who occasionally votes like a Democrat when one can elect a Democratic congressman who always votes like a Democrat? That was the fundamental essence of Illinois' 10th congressional district contest in 2016. Incumbent Bob Dold (R) frantically tried to distance himself from Donald Trump, and challenger Brad Schneider (D) hugged Hillary Clinton with lusty fervor. Schneider won 147,299-133,383, a 13,390-vote margin. This was their third, and probably last race. Only 6 Republican congressmen lost in 2016, and Dold, in a contest in which over $13 million was spent, was one of them.  The North Shore/east Lake County district went 60/40 for Clinton, and 52.5-47-5% for Schneider. Dold ran almost 8 points better than Trump, but demographic trends, coupled with the 2011 remap, have made the 10th Dist. unwinnable for a Republican. Schneider will be around for a while. Full Article...

NEW YEAR'S FOOL'S DAY MYTHS: OBAMA WOULD NOT HAVE BEATEN TRUMP, AND THRE IS NO "RAHM REVIVAL"

It's New Year's Fool's Day, a time for politicians and the media to make non-sensical promises and ridiculous predictions. How about two absurdities? (1) Obama would have beaten Trump. And (2) "Rahm's Remarkable Revival" in Chicago. Clinton lost because about 10% of the 2008 and 2012 Obama Nation defected to the Trump Nation in 2016. They didn't want an Obama third term, as demonstrated by Trump wins in MI, PA, OH, WI, NC and FL. Obama would have lost those states. Just because Emanuel raised $1.6 million, the Cubs broke their jinx, and murders didn't top 1,000 -- that's a "revival"? The quality of life in Chicago has gotten worse, and will get worser. Chicago has spiraled out-of-control, and voters can't wait for 2019 to get rid of Rahm. Full Article...
