ILLINOIS' REPUBLICAN "FIREWALL" SNUFFS DEMOCRATS' "FIRESTORM"

Democrats in Illinois presumed their congressional remap would create a "perfect firestorm," incinerating at least 5 Republican U.S. representatives -- Walsh, Dold, Biggert, Schilling, and the open Johnson seat. They are wrong, and frustration is boiling. A Republican will likely win the East St. Louis seat of retiring Jerry Costello (D), and every Republican incumbent is competitive and raising money. REJECTING REJECTION: GUZZARDI, WEST SIDE LOSERS PLOT COMEBACKS

In politics, losing is the ultimate grief. There are three stages: Anger/denial/acceptance or anger/denial/rejection. In the 39th District, Will Guzzardi lost his race for state representative to Big Daddy Berrios' daughter by 125 votes. He'll be back in 2014. In the 37th Ward, the unions tried to oust Ald. Emma Mitts because she let a Wal-Mart into the ward. They'll try again in 2015. In the 29th Ward, Deborah Graham won with only 52.1%. She's hugely vulnerable in 2015.Full Article...
