Scenario Number One: Good war/good economy. Scenario Number Two: Bad war/bad economy. Scenario Number Three: No war/good economy. FOR DALEY MACHINE, 2/25 WILL BE "OBLITERATION DAY"

Levar was unopposed in 1999, and got 14,199 votes. 41st Ward: Where’s Capparelli? Daley activity in the 41st Ward. My prediction: Doherty got 14,142 votes in 1999, and Daley got 18,091. In 2000, Schulter got 4,706 votes to Kelly’s 4,841. Turnout will be around 9,000, and Schulter will win with 5,500 votes. In the 40th Ward, Pat O’Connor will win with 73 percent; in the 39th Ward, Marge Laurino will win with 69 percent; in the 33rd Ward, Dick Mell will win with 75 percent; in the 50th Ward, Berny Stone will win with 67 percent; and in the 38th Ward, Tom Allen will win with 72 percent. LEVAR FACES INEFFECTUAL OPPOSITION IN 45TH WARD

That quote didn’t play well back in the 45th Ward. “A lot of (ward) voters voted against me because they didn’t want to lose me (as alderman),” suggested Levar. The ward is roughly one percent black. In 2007, Levar will be age 56, and have his 20 years. Levar (and Lyons) have four or more workers in each of the ward’s 53 precincts, and they amassed over 13,000 petition signatures for Daley and Levar last fall. Full Article...

CROWDED FIELD NIPS AT DOHERTY'S HEELS

Marzullo charged that Daley sent workers into the ward to help Doherty in 1995 and 1999, and that Doherty “is the mayor’s guy.” “School reform is working,” said Doherty. Like Marzullo, Sykes criticized Doherty’s support of the rainblocker system. In the 1991 primary, turnout was 22,034, and Doherty got 6,758 votes; in the runoff, turnout zoomed to 25,480, and Doherty got 13,782 votes. In 1995, turnout was 16,397, and Doherty got 12,469 votes.
