September 26, 2012 O'DONNELL FRUSTRATED BY "FIVE-FACED" KOTOWSKI It's survival of the glibbest in the northwest suburban 28th state senatorial district. Incumbant Don Kotwoski (D), according to opponent Jim O'Donnell, is "two faced." Not true. He's really five-faced. There's Disingenuous Danny, Dissembling Danny, Dreamer Danny, Tough Guy Danny, and I'm-Not-A-Democrat Danny. Kotowski thinks all is swell in Springfield. O'Donnell rips him as a tax-and-spender. September 19, 2012 DOLD NEEDS 25% OF OBAMA VOTE TO WIN IN 10TH DISTRICT Democrats claim that Bob Dold has committed the heinous sin of being a "partisan Republican Congressman." Dold won the North Shore 10th District seat in 2010 by 4,651 votes. But the remap created a "partisan Democratic" district where Obama got 61% in 2008. "It's too Democratic for Dold to win," said one officeholder. Dold usually votes with the Republican majority, but occasionally dissents Ex-Congressman Mark Kirk (R) got one in five Obama votes in 2008. Can Dold do likewise? Don't bet on it.   full article...

September 12, 2012 "GLASS CEILING" WILL BE BUSTED IN 55TH HOUSE DISTRICT A "glass ceiling" will be busted this year in the northwest suburban 55th Illinois House district. A man could win in a district held by a woman since 1976. A pro-life woman could win in a district held by a pro-choice woman since 1992. Or a Democrat could win in a district held by a Republican since 1982. Marty Moylan (D), the Des Plaines mayor, is the beneficiary of at least $700,000.00 (and 15 mailings from Speaker Mike Madigan (D). "I take no orders," promised Moylan. September 5, 2012 DEMS TO QUINN: QUIT IN 2014 Governor Pat Quinn is no political powerhouse. He won his 2010 primary by 8,372 votes (50.5%) and his 2010 election by 31,834 votes (46.8%). Since then, given that Illinois is among the nation's worst-governed, least-solvent, most overtaxed states, Quinn's credibility has dropped like a rock. But he's going to run for re-election in 2014. There's the A-Team (Emmanuel, Madigan, Daley, Preckwinkle), and the B-Team (Franks, Lang, Dart, Clayborne, Sullivan, Kotowski, Alvarez, Hynes), and if more than two challenge Quinn, the governor wins renomination.   full article...
